The Park
The Mahldorf Manor House once formed the centre of a typical regional
estate.
To the north of the entrance, ‘productive’ buildings such as stables and
barns were arranged in a U-shape around a courtyard. These were later
separated from the rest of the estate when the property was divided up
in 1920.
To the south of the house lay a garden which the last private owner,
Hermann Schrobsdorff, had transformed into an English-style landscape
park in the 1880s.
The work of restoring the park to its state in 1906 was carried out by
the Gartendenkmalpflege des Landesdenkmalamtes Berlin between 1993 and
1995.
The historic scheme of footpaths was laid out again.
The original views and vistas were regained by establishing flowerbeds
and flowering meadows, and planting new shrubs and trees. The yard opposite
the entrance was again paved with cobblestones and six round shape-cut
trees were planted along the front of the building, with a small rose
garden and a roundel of chestnut trees and park benches forming a cosy
resting point opposite the entrance. In the summer the park provides a
beautiful setting for numerous events.
